Mom turns 62 today. She don't want to have a party, but my grandmom treated her and my other relatives with a great dinner party. Mom even got a real birthday cake! I used to send her flowers when I was in middle school and that was one of my favorate things to do. For some reasons, I love to buy her lotus. //
Mom cames from a so called landlord family in rural village in a county (Lin2 An1) near Hang Zhou in Zhejing Province. When she was 6, my grandmom took her and my older uncle from Hangzhou moved to Beijing where my grandpapa just got a job in judicial system. My mom grew up in city of Tianjin and went to Tianjing Experiement Middle School, one of elite schools in the city. However she failed to pass the college extrance exams twice due to her family background as offsprings of landloard.
//She started to work at 1962 and married my father at 1969 when she was 25. My papa worked in Beijing as an engineer in one of the nuclear power research institutes and my parents were introduced to each other by a close friend of both. My mom gave birth to my older brother in 1972 when my father were still under supervision and worked as farm labor. Then I came in the week of big earthquake in 1976, during which my grandpapa were seriously injured in city of Tang Shan. My grandmom took her husband and my brother to a traditional Chinese medical center in Nantong. //
My mom worked in same factory till she retired in 1995, the year when I got into college. She found another job in a small company as sectorary and tax clergy. She felt happy at that job and got to know a lot of friends in our community. From her 50 to 55, the time was very hard. My father got cancer in 1997 and she was the only person who took care of him all the time. Only after a long while, did I realize how much sacrifice and effort she had made during that tough time. Then my papa passed away in 1999 and my mom lived along since my brother got married in 2003 and I came to U.S. for a laughable degree. //
My mom spent some time with my grandmom to travel since two year before, when she finally quited the post-retirement job. They went to Nanjing, Hang Zhou, Jingdezhen and their home town in Mountain of Tian Mu. //
My mom is such an ordinary woman in other people's eyes, but she is almost the whole universe for me. I gradually realize many of her virtues over these years as I grow up independently. I wish she will be happy and health in the years to come and we can share the next 30 or 40 years together and never be apart again.

Babyboom
Many of my frinds have or will have their first born this year. It seems to be a babyboom in near future. All these wonderful angles come suddendly which make me wonder when I will have my own. Tomorrow is mom 's birthday and just called her. She laughed at me and suggested I could catch up with my friends by the number of babies I will have and it is cheap by a dozen. :)
