Hong Kong University
My presentation at Hong Kong University went well. Students were mostly from mainland China and one from Russia. Hong Kong University is undoubtedly beautiful. It has a sense of superior which is bearable. The university will turn 100 anniversary in 2011 and it is proposing to have an extension campus in near future.
For some reason, I feel HKU is a lot more like Columbia than other HK institutions I have visited. Diverse, pride, small, independent. The only thing it has and we don't is a well-established art museum. HKU museum is a home to many Chinese antiques and modern art works. The size is quite large compared to the size of the campus. Some of its collections are quite impressive and are donated by individuals. It is a tradition I have not seen in other parts of China that rich individuals donate their wealth to colleges and universities, to sponsor their activities.
